The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) (Sinhala: කොළඹ කොටස් වෙළඳපොල, romanized: Kolamba kotas velandapola; Tamil: கொழும்பு பங்கு பரிவர்த்தனை) is the primary stock change in Sri Lanka. It is one of the exchanges in South Asia, supplying an electronic trading platform. The headquarters of the CSE were located on the World Trade Center (Colombo) Towers in Colombo given that 1995 and it also has branches across the U. S . A . In Kandy, Jaffna, Negombo, Matara, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura and Ratnapura .The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has 296 groups representing 20 commercial enterprise sectors as at three August 2015, with a Market Capitalization of Rs. 3115.52 Bn.




History

Share buying and selling in Sri Lanka become initiated in 1896 under Share Brokers Association (SBA). In 1904 SBA turned into renamed as Colombo Brokers' Association. They started out auctioning stocks in an open land. Later a competitor advanced, Stock Brokers Association and in 1985 Colombo Brockers & Stock Brokers merged and fashioned Colombo Securities Exchange.

The status quo of a proper stock alternate took place in 1985 with the incorporation of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), which took over the Stock Market from the Colombo Share Brokers Association. It currently has a club of 15 establishments, all of which can be licensed to perform as stockbrokers.

In 1990, the commercial enterprise become renamed as Colombo Stock Exchange. CSE introduced Central Depository System and clearing changed into automated by that. In 1995 CSE headquarters turned into opened at WTC, Colombo.

Milanka Price Index was introduce in 1999 and several branches had been opened inside the u . S .a The local branches include Kandy, Jaffna, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, Matara, Ratnapura and Ambalantota.
